Geely

AI summary of the Reddit excerpts below — not a quote
Geely is frequently cited as a top-tier Chinese automotive brand, particularly within the UAE market, largely due to its ownership of Volvo and the perceived technology transfer between the two. Users generally report high satisfaction with build quality, describing the vehicles as feeling more premium and well-put-together than many competitors. In the Gulf region, the brand's reputation is bolstered by strong after-sales support and parts availability through established agencies like AGMC, though the brand is beginning to face criticism for increasing its price points.
Pros
- Benefits from Volvo/Polestar engineering and technology sharing
- Strong after-sales service and professional showroom experience in the UAE (AGMC)
- High parts availability with large local stocks in Dubai
- Build quality is often rated higher than other Chinese brands and some entry-level European makes
- Reliable enough for high-utilization use cases like taxis in China
Cons
- Increasing price points are reducing the brand's traditional 'value' advantage
- Service appointments often require pre-booking at least two weeks in advance
- Maintenance and service costs can be high without a pre-paid package
- Higher insurance premiums compared to non-Chinese brands
Caveats
- Resale value remains a significant concern for long-term owners
- High insurance costs and resale issues are often described as industry-wide challenges for Chinese makes rather than Geely-specific flaws
- Long-term reliability in the specific UAE climate is still being established by the community
Best for
- Buyers seeking Volvo-adjacent safety and tech at a more accessible price point
- Drivers in the UAE who prioritize strong agency support and parts availability
- Those planning a 5-year ownership cycle where upfront features outweigh resale value
Avoid if
- Resale value is a primary factor in your purchasing decision
- You are looking for the absolute cheapest Chinese vehicle on the market
- You prefer a brand with lower insurance premiums

I have heard good things about Geely as well.
Geely, BYD, I would start with these two, to be honest.
My brothers got a Jetour and Geely and honestly I hate to admit I love their clean interiors more than some German brands.
The top 3 Chinese car brands are BYD, Geely and Chery. Stick to these as a first time car buyer.
Geely has parts easily available in Middle East. Of course you can’t compare with Toyota or Nissan. But should be on par with Korean and cheaper than American cars.
geely should be great too but i didn’t specify which models
Geely ... These are good quality vehicles and dealerships
The issue is not “Chinese”, but rather unknown brand. Have you went with Geely, BYD, Hongqi - it would be completely different experience.
My experience is mainly with brands such as Audi, Jetour, Geely, Zeekr, and other vehicles available in the Chinese market.
Geely is one of the largest privately-owned car manufacturers currently right now, and the direction they are headed is nothing short of spectacular.
