AI summary of the Reddit excerpts below — not a quote
The Geely Coolray is widely praised in Gulf-region automotive communities as a stylish and feature-rich compact SUV that offers an engaging driving experience. Users frequently highlight its modern aesthetic and powerful engine performance for its class, though these positives are balanced by concerns regarding long-term reliability and significant depreciation.
Pros
- Engaging driving dynamics often described as a 'driving thrill'
- Modern and 'fancy' exterior design with high attention to detail
- High feature density, including 360-degree cameras and ADAS in higher trims
- Competitive engine performance, with users noting approximately 177hp
- Strong value for money relative to the features provided
Cons
- Interior cabin can feel cramped, particularly in the rear
- Widespread concerns regarding high depreciation and resale value
- Uncertainty and suspicion regarding long-term mechanical reliability
Caveats
- While 'fun to drive,' some users feel it does not yet reach the refinement levels of established Japanese competitors like Mazda
- Positive reliability reports are typically based on relatively short ownership periods (e.g., under 30,000 km)
Best for
- Drivers seeking a tech-heavy, stylish compact crossover
- Those prioritizing acceleration and 'fun' handling in a budget-friendly vehicle

Geely Coolray ... these cars are great and by the way, all of these fit female drivers perfectly 👏🏻
The car is a good commuter if that's what you're looking for. Solid build quality for a Chinese car, reasonable price and got free insurance, tinting, registration and service contract as well.
The DCT can be jerky at low speed slow moving traffic but the engine def packs a punch especially for its size. The only major setback I had was how much they strip the base variant of features
Been driving a Coolray for 2.5 years+ and around 90k kms. A more than decent car for the price I got it. No major issues till now. It's a little tight for 5 people but does the job for me as we are only 2 plus a child.
Coolray is very reliable car , no major issues observed
The car is good, but it's dated now... The engine is fuel guzzler. I get around 8 to 9kmpl during summers in city traffic. The engine on the lower speeds feels a bit strained but once you go above 50 it's smooth. The A/C for uae heat is not good... There is considerable wind noise post 80km, and it gets worse post 100.
Geely Starray or Coolray
last year, i rented a geely coolray that was a bad unit - it was so bad the windshield cracked on its own. i didn't even fault it because i knew it was that unit. even the suspension was wonky.
my friends have coolray as well and it's a great car.
Otherwise, if you're fine with Chinese brands, you can check the Geely Coolray.
