Gearwrench
Reddit take
Not enough linked mention summaries yet; the source excerpts below are the evidence.
Pros
- Gearwrench and tekton both make good sockets.
- if they break I will replace one at a time with Tekton, Craftsman or Gearwrench individual wrenches
- All my chrome sockets at work are Gearwrench and I love them.
- For budget crow’s feet, Gearwrench is usually the sweet spot — not super cheap, but solid quality and way cheaper than Snap-On or Mac
- Gearwrench sockets are awesome.
Cons
- Gearwrench is lower quality than they were a decade or so ago
- Gw keep the receipt because you will need it for warranty.
- The only thing they have over my existing ratcheting wrenches (a mix of Gearwrench, Kobalt, and SBD Craftsman) is the fact they're reversible for tight spaces.
- I have experience with the Gearwrench warranty, and while successful, was not as streamlined/easy as people on reddit say their Tekton warranty experience was.

I've had gearwrench for going on 8 years now. Granted not a mechanic but in commercial/industrial electrical work where I typically use them as hammers, levers and wrenches and can't complain about them.
I've had gearwrench for decades with no breaks and no complaints. I've warrantied other gearwrench tools and all you do is fill out a form, attach a picture, and get a new tool in the mail.
I like my gearwrench set but even the pittsburg set is good enough.
