Gboard
Reddit take
AI summary of the Reddit excerpts below — not a quote
Gboard is a highly popular keyboard app frequently recommended as a superior alternative to stock keyboards, especially on Android. It is widely praised for its accurate voice-to-text capabilities and intuitive gesture controls. However, user sentiment is notably more mixed regarding the iOS version, which some find buggy or less polished than its Android counterpart.
Pros
- Highly accurate and seamless voice typing compared to competitors
- Useful gestures for cursor movement and quick text deletion
- Strong predictive text and next-word completion
- Integrated features like live translation and multi-language support
- Snappy performance and clean aesthetic design
Cons
- iOS version is frequently cited as buggy or inferior to the Android experience
- Autocorrect often fails to function in search fields like YouTube or the Google app
- Occasional bugs on iOS where it defaults back to the system keyboard during email entry
Caveats
- The user experience varies significantly between Android and iOS platforms
- Some users prefer privacy-focused or highly customizable alternatives like HeliBoard
Best for
- Android users who rely heavily on voice-to-text
- Users who want a feature-rich keyboard with built-in translation
- People looking for better gesture-based navigation than stock keyboards
Avoid if
- You are an iOS user expecting a bug-free experience identical to Android
- You require consistent autocorrect within search bars and app-specific fields

I'm mainly using swiftkey and although it is slightly better than stock it's still a far cry from Gboard on Android
it stopped letting me use voice to text and I use that feature easy too much to live without it so switched to gboard. sucked
someone said last update for that app was years ago. also with that they dont fix the bugs like for example they would always revert the keyboard.
It's as accurate as Gboard for me now, but that's an admittedly low bar, lol.
Download Gboard and switch that awful Samsung keyboard over to something better.
When using gboard and while it has a nice clipboard, I want to be able to save passwords to it and not have anyone who uses my phone to be able to see them if they open it.
Odio decirlo pero gboard tiene muy buena predicion no encuentro algo igual o superior
unfortunately nothing comes near Gboard when it comes to correction accuracy, general feel, text prediction etc.
I absolutely hate GBoard. I find myself making way to many mistakes on it and it's not as intuitive as the iOS keyboard is.
Parent context: i am kind of tired tring keyboard and coming back to gbord so that why i think it would be the best to know what you guys are using. Reply: I've tried others - beyond privacy concerns which may motivate people to look elsewhere I think it's still the best.
