GAC GS8
Reddit take
AI summary of the Reddit excerpts below — not a quote
The GAC GS8 is frequently cited as a premium-feeling alternative to established 7-seater SUVs, praised for its bold design, spacious interior, and surprisingly powerful 2.0T engine. While many owners are impressed by its driving dynamics and feature set, there are significant concerns regarding rapid depreciation and frequent design refreshes that may complicate long-term parts sourcing.
Pros
- Premium interior and exterior aesthetics that compete well with non-Chinese brands
- Spacious second and third-row seating suitable for families
- Strong performance from the 2.0L turbocharged engine (250hp/400Nm torque)
- Light and comfortable handling, with some users comparing the feel to a smaller hatchback
- Good fuel economy for its size, reported between 9 to 12 km/ltr
Cons
- Laggy and choppy infotainment system performance
- Potential for rapid depreciation and low resale value compared to competitors
- Reported reliability issues with the 360-degree camera system
- Some reports of the vehicle shaking at high speeds (above 140 km/h)
Caveats
- GAC reportedly updates the GS8 design every 1-2 years, which can lead to long wait times for year-specific replacement parts like headlights
- Opinions on resale value are mixed; while some claim it drops significantly, others find it acceptable for the segment
Best for
- Families looking for a spacious 7-seater SUV with a premium feel at a lower price point
- Drivers who prioritize bold styling and modern interior features
Avoid if
- You require a highly responsive and bug-free infotainment system
- You are concerned about long-term parts availability due to frequent model refreshes
- You frequently drive at very high highway speeds where stability issues have been noted

I already own a GS8 which we mainly use on weekends for long drives and mostly used by my wife during the weekday.
Really good car, but this particular one does not have gargash warranty, which for me is a deal breaker.
Anywhere I see Range Rover lookalike, I approve it 🔥
Well i rented these and won’t recommend. Questionable performance, no CarPlay, trashy stereo however big boot with electric seats and roof mounted air conditioning vents is a pro.
Perfect family car. Get a 24 and up model if you can. They have an upgraded digital cluster.
Reliable car 🙌🏻 and spacious!
I own 24 model of the same variant.. one of the best Chinese cars
Solid cars
