GAC Group is generally regarded as a top-tier Chinese automotive brand within the Gulf market, frequently praised for its reliability and technology-sharing partnerships with Toyota. While many users consider their vehicles a high-value alternative to established Japanese brands due to their feature sets and use of Aisin transmissions, opinions are mixed regarding interior material quality and the maturity of the local spare parts supply chain.
Pros
- Perceived high reliability stemming from deep technical ties and part-sharing with Toyota
- Frequent use of reputable Aisin transmissions in various models
- Strong value proposition, offering many features at a lower price point than competitors
- Positive reputation in endurance racing used to demonstrate vehicle durability
Cons
- Interior materials are occasionally described as feeling cheap or flimsy
- Strict dealership policies regarding non-refundable deposits
- Subjective exterior styling that does not appeal to all buyers
Caveats
- Spare parts inventory is still in the process of scaling up following recent large-scale supply deals
- Some users suggest that new vehicles may require specific dealer corrections for minor initial issues
- Service center accessibility may be limited depending on your specific location within the city
Best for
- Buyers in the Gulf region looking for a feature-rich car on a budget
- Those who want the perceived reliability of Toyota technology in a more affordable package
Avoid if
- You are highly sensitive to the quality and feel of interior cabin materials
- You require a brand with a long-established and ubiquitous spare parts network
- You want a guaranteed refund on vehicle deposits

I thought a thousand times before buying something Chinese but GAC has deep ties with Toyota which leads to a lot of part sharing hence reliability has not been an issue so far.
Don’t listen to the haters. If it’s got a warranty, it’s got a warranty. Haval, GAC and Changan should be fairly worry free
MG and GAC are also good but from what i heard you need to be a bit careful with some of their vehicles, they have issues that need to be highlighted to the dealer for correction and then they're good.
Gac is giving cars on lease
This GAC was a lot of fun, and I'm just wondering why there aren't more people driving Chinese cars? At 99K, this is, in my eyes is a steal.
GAC, Changan, Geely these brands are reliable and packed with features.
