  • I mean I don't think the g14 is that great, it is great and probably the best Mac alternative, but not that good... A bit worse screen - no VRR, worse battery life, no haptic trackpad. Speakers are good but not as good as those on macs.

+1 for the G14. My Brother has the 2020 model. Got him through college (electrical engineering), his masters (also electrical engineering), and a fair amount of gaming in what little free time he had. It was the first of its kind to balance power and portability in a neat little package and its only gotten better in the past few years as technology has advanced.

The g14 has good thermals, but if you are putting it under very heavy load, any laptop at this size except the MacBook will get loud. For lighter tasks it can stay very quiet.
