Reddit take

Not enough linked mention summaries yet; the source excerpts below are the evidence.

Pros

  • Ford Fusion (2010-2012)
  • Same for Ford Fusion/C-Max.
  • Ford Fusions and Mercury Milans with either the 2.5 or Hybrid powertrain.
  • Not the Fusion and not the C-max
  • And early 2010 ford fusions cuz apparently their engines are actually legit. Transmissions can be iffy depending on which on but not the worst. Those fords will always end being sold cheaper than than a Corolla rn, with fewer Kms too

Cons

  • I’ve seen mixed reviews about ford fusion’s online, the listing says it has 122k miles and the price is not too bad but I want to get some insight before checking it out in person.
  • I have a budget of $4000-$7000 max for this car, and so far i’ve looked at Ford fusions or Honda civics but my grandfather who is also helping me look said that these aren’t the best.
  • Fusion/C-Max are far better cars but have had issues with 6F35 transmission.
  • Ford Fusions are midsize sedans and there is also the Escape, which is a compact crossover
  • Does Ford Focus have any problem engines to look out for like Fusion does?

If you want to save money and buy American for a roomy daily go for a full size sedan like a Fusion or Impala. They tend to hold up much better than their crossover options.

At this price range you'll have to accept some unreliability. Ford Fusions with Mazda 2.3-2.5L engines are close enough.

ford fusions with the 2.5 are pretty reliable
