Etéreo
Reddit take
AI summary of the Reddit excerpts below — not a quote
Etéreo is a highly-regarded luxury resort in the Kanai region of Mexico, frequently praised for its modern design, intimate atmosphere, and exceptional culinary offerings. While it is often compared to larger nearby properties like Rosewood Mayakoba, users highlight its superior 'hard product' and more manageable scale. The resort maintains a sophisticated, adult-leaning vibe, though it does offer family-friendly room configurations.
Pros
- Exceptional food and beverage, with breakfast receiving specific and consistent praise.
- Modern, high-quality rooms and property design that feels fresh and well-thought-out.
- Intimate and boutique feel compared to sprawling neighboring resorts.
- Excellent service and attentive staff that many users find 'top notch.'
- Reasonable pricing for food and drinks relative to other high-end luxury resorts.
Cons
- The property footprint is relatively small, which may feel restrictive to those used to larger estates.
- Occasional mixed reviews on dinner quality compared to nearby competitors like Belmond Maroma.
Caveats
- Despite having family pools and suitable room setups, the resort is described as adult-focused and not particularly 'kid-welcoming' in its atmosphere.
Best for
- Couples and luxury travelers seeking a modern, intimate boutique experience.
- Food-focused travelers who prioritize high-quality breakfast and on-site dining.
- Those who prefer a newer 'hard product' over more traditional or older luxury properties.
Avoid if
- You are looking for a resort with extensive, high-energy children's programming.
- You prefer the scale and variety of a large-acreage resort complex.

They’re both great resorts, and Etereo is a really good choice if you loved Esperanza, but BT would be amazing as well.
We took our kids to Etereo in July. The resort is stunning. I will say, while they have a family pool, I did not find it to be overly kid-welcoming. It seems to be very adult-focused.
The room set up for families is great at Etereo....
Yea that’s crazy, especially because the breakfast at Etero is AMAZING. And I found all the F&B pricing to be super reasonable for a resort of that caliber. All in all Etero is a beautiful hotel with great food/spa/rooms.
Have you looked at Belmond maroma or etereo?
You could do Mexico and check out Etereo or Belmond Maroma.
Flying into Cancun you have Belmond Maroma, Rosewood Mayakoba, Etereo all within budget/available.
I'd consider Etereo also.
Agreeing with this, Etereo is lovely. Great food, amazing service and it feels super intimate and every detail is well thought out.
Etereo (but now showing no availability).
