I have a 2005 minivan as well, it’s a dodge grand caravan and as much as it’s a Pisces if shit in several ways it’s done me well, I’ve only had it a few months but the foldown seats stowing into the floor make it great for camping while still being a great family commuter.

On a Caravan peek around the oil filter housing with a strong pointy flashlight. If there are oil puddles, here's your 700-1000CAD right there (oil filter housing replacement + spark plugs while there). Caravans with rear-seat AC make sure to either circle both heat and AC for the rear and ensure they work. And look underneath to check for AC and coolant pipes - they should not be corroded, bent or pinched.

Get the Dodge. Better bang for the buck. I can't tell you which years are better than others. But the 3.6 and 6 speed were pretty reliable.
