Lunch at **Dishoom Covent Garden** (shared plates, still one of the better-value sit-down meals in London for a family).
Dishoom doesn't open until 8am, so that should eat up (pun intended) your morning time gap. In general things don't open super early in London.

Dinner in the area (Lamb & Flag, The Harp, and Dishoom have been recommended by friends).
Dishoom in Shoreditch is great for it, always lively and the communal vibe means you never feel out of place.
