Used Lenovo thinkpad / Dell precision

Most of Dells XPSs or Precisions(5000 series of you want an alternative for the T480) normally got decent Linux support.

I'm kind of leaning toward recommending a Dell Precision with RTX A**** dGPU (used/refurb).

Dell is fairly well-known for Linux support. Not as much as Lenovo ThinkPads, but they're certainly the second most Linux-y OEM. Their Latitude and Precision models are pretty good.

Dell precision are well built machines and compatibility is allright.

I would look for a used workstation laptop that has a dedicated graphics card like a Thinkpad or Dell Precision.

If its a Dell Precision your job is very safe and you're going to be working 80+ hours a week.

From Dell, their precision lineup are top notch in build quality and reliability.

I have used a Dell precision laptop with core i7, 128g ram, and 4tb disk for years with opensuse tumbleweed for software, hardware, and ic development flawlessly. Sucks that battery, but otherwise great.
