Pros

  • Civivi, sencut, kizer, Kershaw, crkt Those are the brands to look at. If they aren't knife guys, those are fine brands.
  • He has really refined the aesthetic of his CRKT stuff in a good way. Stuff like the HZ4+HZ6 or the Inazuma look so minimalist and clean compared to their older brothers.
  • I'll probably get flamed for this but CRKT. Built well, decent enough steel (AUS 8 in my CEO), great customer service, not too expensive that I'm worried about losing my knife, and their designs just seem to... Fit my hands well.
  • Like I’m not saying they aren’t decent knives for their cost, but they’re already stupid cheap.
  • I like these. They're what got me into knife collecting to be honest. Crkt used to have another similar one (in that it folds/unfolds the same direction) but I believe it was a different designer and less "showy" for lack of a better word.

Cons

  • It’s maintenance day for a couple of my son’s knives (the CRKT and the insanely heavy Smith & Wesson on the right, each of which has a sticky pivot)
  • Just about every CRKT I've handled has been disappointing. Kershaws, even the cheap ones, are nicer than most CRKTs. I don't understand how they get away with charging what they do for some of their knives when literally any other manufa...
  • I’m also not a fan of CRKT. I had a few CRKTs a long time ago before I started liking better quality stuff.
  • CRKT doesn’t use the best steel all the time, and not all of their designs are great, but I’ll always give them props for trying out new stuff.
  • I have a few Civivi knifes, Sanrenmu, CJRB, Ontario, CRKT, some Schrade fixed blades

Just about every CRKT I've handled has been disappointing. Kershaws, even the cheap ones, are nicer than most CRKTs. I don't understand how they get away with charging what they do for some of their knives when literally any other manufacturer will give you more (materials, fit and finish, blade steel, etc etc) for your money.
