- Yeah, so you def don't need an expensive Ortsei or Cortina like place.
- I did not find it very touristy. It was bustling, but not touristy like some other parts of Italy. Trails we took were not crowded at all and we only drove 15 minutes or so out of town.

My suggestion would be Cortina. Very easy to get to from Venice airport (there’s a coach that goes directly to Cortina from the airport, takes around 2 hours) which means no car rental needed. Cortina is a chic little town - plenty of shopping, cute cafes, two of the larger hotels have spas.
There’s enough to see around Ortisei and nearby that I would strongly recommend against going to cortina.
Canazei offers an entry into the Western part and Cortina is more to the east. Both offer both Instagram-overrun and more quiet options.
