Control4

Pros

• C4 is a great product but it’s limited to the programmer setting it up.
• I use the reliability of Control4 ip control strictly for media. TVs on and off, one touch app election for Rokus, ability to select rooms to control the media etc etc. ... Quality and reliability are top notch here.
• One of the things i like with Control 4 is just the reliability of using other devices. For example, some devices are rock solid with home assistant while other devices are about 50%.
• Control 4 handles all of my audio distribution all of my video distribution and all of my universal controls from the lights and Tvs to the fireplace and thermostat and door locks.
• If you wanna throw money at a problem and make it disappear, control4 is your answer.

Cons

• Every person I've ever heard talk about control4 says it's horrible.
• KNX is expensive, other systems like Loxone, Control4 etc. are vendor-locked. All require professional install.
• I am not a fan of mesh networks, as they cause problems with the Control4 automation systems I install due to bad intra-LAN communication.
• I don't have enough experience with Home Assistant yet, so can't comment on it yet, but I will say I am disappointed with the reliability of my Control4 setup.
• I have a very extensive Control4 setup. It took 5 years to get it to a spot where I would say it is for the most part working. ... now that it is actually working I do kind of like it.
