If you want to stay in town, note that the CB is close to the port, in an area of no particular appeal. The private beach makes no sense since you're going to swim next to the port fumes, it will be just a burden you've overpaid for.
What about The Cove in the Bahamas or Cheval Blanc?
Personally loved Sardinia, agree there are not as many fat options but you can still do a fat hotel (Belmond, Cala di Volpe, or new Cheval Blanc if it’s open by Summer)

We went to Cheval Blanc last year for a milestone birthday and it was genuinely fantastic. Food was terrific, and we’re picky. Staff went above and beyond, we had a ton of good activities.
