Audi Q5
Reddit take
AI summary of the Reddit excerpts below — not a quote
The Audi Q5 is widely recognized for its smooth driving dynamics, quiet cabin, and high-quality interior. However, it is a polarizing vehicle regarding long-term ownership; while some users report excellent reliability and a 'solid' feel, others describe it as a 'money pit' with high maintenance costs. It is frequently compared to the VW Tiguan, with some users finding it difficult to justify the price jump for the Audi badge. The consensus suggests it is a refined luxury crossover that is best enjoyed while under warranty.
Pros
- Smooth and quiet driving experience
- High-quality interior materials and 'solid' build feel
- Good performance in various weather conditions
- Wide availability of parts and specialist mechanics within the VAG ecosystem
- Strong reputation for specific older powertrains like the 3.0 supercharged motor and ZF8 transmission
Cons
- High cost of maintenance and expensive out-of-warranty repairs
- Base models can feel under-equipped for the price point
- Relatively cramped interior for its class, particularly for tall drivers or families
- Limited front-cabin storage pockets and utility
Caveats
- Reliability opinions are sharply divided, with some owners reporting zero issues and others expressing 'full regret'
- The vehicle is often cited as a poor value proposition if purchased in a base trim without options
- Interior dimensions are smaller than many competitors in the same SUV segment
Best for
- Drivers prioritizing a refined, quiet, and 'luxe' driving feel
- Those who plan to lease or sell before the factory warranty expires
- Buyers who value brand prestige and interior fit-and-finish over raw cargo space
Avoid if
- You are highly sensitive to maintenance and repair costs
- You need a spacious family vehicle with significant rear-seat or cargo room
- You are looking for the best feature-to-price ratio in a base model

Go for an Audi Q5 / Q7 or an X5!
nunca será igual de “confortable” que un Audi Q5, BMW X3, un Mercedes GLC o un Volvo XC60.
They sold me an Audi q5 with a cylinder not working, luckily caught it within the 100 days and they had to pay out about 11k for a replacement engine. Took me arguing with their warranty company for about 3 weeks but finally got it replaced
Audi is reliable as long you go to the dealer
i wouldnt trust the merc or audi personally if you are worried about high maintenance cost
That’s one clean car for being over a decade old, great work with the maintenance
