Pros

  • The ASUS Vivobook S 14 (S5406SA) is worth considering. It ran Fedora flawlessly for me and meets many key needs: lightweight, great battery life, 14-inch non-touch display, and Intel Arc Graphics for light gaming.
  • I started my Linux journey six months ago on an ASUS Vivobook S 14 (S5406SA), which ran Fedora perfectly. Its OLED display was nice, but at FHD and 60Hz, it couldn’t match your M1 Pro 14.
  • I began my Linux journey six months ago on an ASUS Vivobook S 14 (S5406SA) , which ran Fedora flawlessly. It’s powered by an Intel Lunar Lake chip, delivering excellent battery life and barely any fan noise.
  • I started my Linux journey six months ago on an ASUS Vivobook S 14 (S5406SA). It ran Fedora perfectly and comes in a sleek silvery “Mist Blue” finish.

Cons

  • The webcam works for me on Fedora without any setup. Have you tried using different apps? I ask because on my previous laptop, an ASUS Vivobook S 14 S5406SA, the GNOME Camera app didn’t work, but Cheese did.
  • I started on an ASUS Vivobook S 14 S5406SA.
  • I started with an ASUS Vivobook S 14 S5406SA. It had a Wi-Fi reporting and control issue initially (although Wi-Fi worked, it wasn't possible to control it from Gnome), but that got resolved quickly by a kernel update.

I can personally attest to the HP OmniBook Ultra Flip and the ASUS Vivobook S 14 (S5406SA) running Fedora 42.

I started my Linux transition some months back with an ASUS Vivobook S 14 S5406SA (Intel Core Ultra 7 258v, 32GB, 1TB) I picked up from my local Walmart on sale for $799. ... It ran Fedora 42 perfectly.

For a more affordable option, I also have used an ASUS Vivobook S 14 S5406SA on Fedora with excellent compatibility. It has the same hardware as my OmniBook, but it isn't a 2-in-1, and its OLED display is FHD/60Hz.
