Pros

  • I have a similar workload that I use my Macbook Pro M2 Max with 96GB RAM and 400GB/s for. Wouldn't trade it in until Apple offers a new model with at least 500+GB/s bandwidth.
  • If you value high RAM, high storage, or high GPU performance, get a refurbished/used M1 Max or M2 Max.
  • I’ve had my MBP M2 Max for more than two years now and it’s been plugged in almost constantly and has never been shutdown. The battery is on “Optimize Battery Charging” since I got it. The maximum capacity is still 100% with condition "N...
  • My M2 Max with 2TB measures over 6800MB/s read and over 7950MB/s write using that utility.
  • if you really cant buy either then look for m2 max.

Cons

  • it'll never be enough, i got mind m2 max with 32gigs, and now i wished i should have pick 96gigs.

I’ve had my MBP M2 Max for more than two years now and it’s been plugged in almost constantly and has never been shutdown. The battery is on “Optimize Battery Charging” since I got it. The maximum capacity is still 100% with condition "Normal".

If anything GPU intensive like 3D Modeling, Video Editing or Game developement I would suggest go wtih M2 Max ... I personally prefer M2 Max since you can install Asahi Linux there if you are into linux.

M2 MAX. It's not the same, but a similar comparison would be -- I wouldn't get a 5070ti over a 4090 just because it's a newer card. 4GB RAM extra is negligible when you already have 32 and the amount more VRAM/Cores you get with the Max. The M2 Max has nearly 4 times the amount of ROP's as the M3
