Amazon S3

Pros

• Object storage (like S3) are inert by default. S3/R2 mitigate some of these concerns (but not all security considerations!), so that would be another reason to lean towards object storage.
• Really been enjoying the s3 and the small changes they made to how the board fits together.
• Definitely would want to use S3/Google Cloud Storage as offsite backup.
• But you'll certainly want something like S3 or other object-based storage system that has high durability. With AWS you can enable bucket versioning and other protections for accidental deletes.
• I used s3 with an image handler to retrieve images and a subdomain for the URL via Route. There are AWS docs to set it up. I really like it.

Cons

• I was going to use S3/Wasabi but the egress fees and API request costs are annoying to calculate.
• I have it in S3 and it's nice, imo it's too weak to justify 21700 form factor
• But you should definitely set up backups, you could store them in S3 for example.
• Like you can have the sensitive data in S3 or rds, and have the app dockerized and hosting it using ECS, then have reverse proxy setting in front of the container plus the proper role permissions controlling of access the data.
• My S3‘s screen got loose some years ago and eventually got stuck and it ripped out the screen. There was no apparent damage, but the watch did not boot anymore even with a new screen
