AI summary of the Reddit excerpts below — not a quote
Aman Tokyo is frequently cited as a premier luxury destination and a "gold standard" for city hotels, particularly noted for its exceptional room design, views, and signature soaking tubs. While the majority of feedback is highly positive regarding the service and breakfast, there are notable reports of inconsistencies in food quality and service standards that some guests felt did not meet the high price point or the Aman brand's reputation.
Pros
- Exceptional room aesthetics and views, often described as the best in Tokyo
- High-quality breakfast offerings, specifically the Japanese breakfast option
- Large, high-end in-room soaking tubs
- Convenient location with direct subway access and proximity to Tokyo Station
- Exclusive guest experiences, such as special access to sumo stables
Cons
- Inconsistent service and drink quality that occasionally falls below brand expectations
- Mixed dining experiences, with some reports of food quality resembling cafeteria standards
- Potential for management to be unresponsive to service or food complaints
Caveats
- The hotel's atmosphere is so self-contained that some guests find it discourages them from exploring the city
- The design features a sharp contrast between very bright, airy rooms and a much darker aesthetic in common areas
Best for
- Luxury travelers seeking a top-tier city hotel with a focus on room comfort
- Guests who prioritize high-end amenities like soaking tubs and impressive views
- Travelers looking for a quiet, destination-style retreat within a busy city
Avoid if
- You prefer a hotel that feels more integrated into the local street-level energy
- You have zero tolerance for service or culinary inconsistencies at a high price point

Aman is hard to top, it’s just exceptional.
I really enjoyed Aman Tokyo.
Aman is good but bvlgari tokyo just 1 level higher.
aman tokyos service has been declining over the years.
we felt the service and quality here was exceptional. I loved the closeness to the Imperial Palace (as the loop around it was a perfect 5K right outside your door), Musashi was a solid omakase experience, the lobby is still stunning, the views from the Garden View Suite were better than what you experience on the Tokyo Tower
I have stayed at the Aman Tokyo and that is also great. So if the bathtub looking over the city is your top priority, then that limits your choices already.
I did also see Aman has 24/7 breakfast which is useful as there are a few days getting up at 5am.
Don't think anyone is beating that bath at Aman.
I would avoid Aman given the extremely questionable business ethics.
Aman lobby can be busy too. Afternoon tea there is popular amongst the locals. And yeah I don't think service level is the same as the top resort style Amans in SE Asia.
