I think for other authors/books that gave me a "visceral, physical reaction," The Haar by David Sodergren & All the Fiends of Hell by Adam L.G. Nevill definitely did that for me!
All the Fiends of Hell was also excellent, and may have actually had the all around best writing of these 3 since one had an ending that felt like he copy pasted from a different book and the other moved at a kind of glacial pace, also it doesn't have the trademark massive exposition dumps that people seem to hate about the others.
I just finished All the Fiends of Hell after going in totally blind and it completely absorbed me. I loved it beginning to end.
