Pros
- Alberobello and Matera are must-sees, completely unique and something you won't find anywhere as opposed to the beach at Otranto which is very nice but I don't know if it's worth basing a trip around.
- Alberobello is the city of the Trulli homes. Rent one for a night or two.
- Include Puglia and Basilicata (some places Vieste, Alberobello, Matera, Lecce)
- Alberobello and Ostuni are worth a visit
- from there you could potentially see the Valle D’Itria with Alberobello which is not far at all
Cons
- Alberobello is a cute town but you can zip in and out in 2-3 hours over there.
- Alberobello is a little hassle by public transport (bus is always crowded and overbooked and the train is usually packed aswell).
- Matera and Alberobello.
- I skipped Alberobello. It really does just seem like a photo opp, full stop, and the town seems charmless outside of that one area.

Also, Alberobello is worth a visit. It's highly touristic, so days are crowded. But at night it's much more interesting to explore (similar to Venice in that way). Stay in a trullo for the full experience. It's worth one night.
